TOURNAMENT NOTES:
South Eugene drew Sherwood in the 2nd round, but clawed its way back to the championship game against Wilson.  South Eugene entered the round with 3.5, Wilson with 4.  The match ended in a draw, (in the biggest upset… Marcus Robinson from Wilson, rated 1720 –  drew against South Eugene’s Oleg Zaikov, rated 2335!) giving Wilson 4.5 and the state title.

Lake Oswego and Portland Christian both finished with 4, but had one more tie-breaker point than South Eugene, which played the first two rounds without a fifth board.  Lake Oswego and Portland Christian each had 19 total match points, resulting in our first-ever blitz tie-breaker, won by Lake Oswego to put them 2nd and Portland Christian 3rd.  South Eugene takes 4th, and with 3 out of 5, Sunset wins 5th on tie-breakers, and Cottage Grove takes 6th.

In the B division Sunset team C wins, with Sunset B taking the middle school championship.

All told, 18 teams in the A, 18 in the B, making this the biggest tournament ever, in the history of the OHSCTA.
